So, I did my research. I talked with a co-worker who brewed his first batch recently, talked to my brother who is to the point of opening his micro-brewery and read (most of) the home brewer's bible. I went to many websites researching the best deals on the equipment that I needed. The best of which IMHO was http://morebeer.com/. But, in the end, I decided to go local at Apex Brew Wares in Independence, MO. It would have saved me a few bucks to buy on the IntraWeb (cred to Gas Monkey), but it's worth it to establish a trusted relationship with someone that has been there!
Here's my kit (@$520):
Fermentation bucket with spigot and lid
2 - 6 gallon glass carboy (with stoppers)
Carboy brush
2 - three piece airlocks
3/8" autosiphon with hose
Hydrometer with jar
Fermometer
8oz Star san
Floating thermometer
Plastic wine thief
The Complete Joy of Homebrewing (3rd edition)
CO2 bottle (filled)
5 gallon keg
Tap
Tap wrench
Dual guage regulator
10' Beer line
5' of 5/16" gas line
Chrome plated faucet with handle
Chrome plated shank assembly
Screw clamps
Complete Rogue Dead Guy Ale kit
So the only progress that I'm making tonight is to smack my yeast pack, organize and sanitize my equipment and look forward tomorrow.
